Sadio Mane makes honest Liverpool admissions which may explain why he wants transfer exit
Sadio Mane is expected to push for a move away from Liverpool this summer following six years under Jurgen Klopp, with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich being linked with a move.
Since joining Jurgen Klopp’s team in the summer of 2016, the Senegalese international has established himself as one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers.
In November 2018, the former Southampton star signed a new long-term contract with the Merseyside club after an outstanding start to life on Merseyside.
Following an outstanding debut season, Mane was voted the club’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.
When asked about his choice to commit to Liverpool until the summer of 2024, the forward listed three reasons for his happiness with the club, including the right club, the right moment, and the right coach.
Mane said on the club’s official website:
“I am very happy, very happy to extend my time at Liverpool. It is a great day for me and now I am looking forward to everything – to helping the team, to helping the club achieve our dreams and, especially, to win trophies.
“I’ve always said, when I knew I had a chance to come here I didn’t have to think twice.
“The right club in the right moment and with the right coach as well. I came here and was very happy. For me, I have made the best decision in my career.”
With Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski’s futures in doubt, Bayern Munich is seen as the most likely destination for Mane this summer.
If a deal in the range of £35 million is made in the forthcoming window, Liverpool are said to be willing to sell the forward.
