Liverpool have been linked with a move for 19-year-old Brazilian Marcos Leonardo.
According to reports from Brazil, Liverpool may be on the verge of making a surprising transfer.
Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay have already joined the Reds at Anfield, expanding their squad by three players.
Early in the summer, Jurgen Klopp made the decision to move the trio to Merseyside so that they could all participate in a complete preseason with the rest of the team.
Anfield insiders believe with the signings of the aforementioned trio, Liverpool have got what they wanted out of this summer’s market.
However, there are still rumours floating around that Liverpool might conduct more business. According to a Brazilian source, there might soon be a new addition.
Reporter Milton Neves, has revealed that Santos youngster Marcos Leonardo is “joining Liverpool”. Neves was speaking on Esporte na Band , after Santos were held to a draw with Corinthians.
According to a statement from Neves, “Corinthians yesterday narrowly avoided being defeated by the Santos kids. The new Romario is Marcos Leonardo, who is moving to Liverpool.
Leonardo, who is only 19 years old, has already made an impression in the Santos first squad. The youthful striker has scored 12 goals in 31 games this season and 25 in 94 overall.
The report added that claims come a couple of weeks after a claim from another Brazilian outlet about Leonardo. It was reported by South American football pundit Veloso who said that the 19-year-old had already been sold to “an English group”.
Further reports have suggested that Leonardo has a release clause in his contract worth £51m.
Liverpool were also close to signing Real Madrid star Rodrygo for €3m in 2017. That was 12 months before he signed for Real for a fee of €45m. But former Man City star Elan blocked the deal.
