Erling Haaland sends Pep Guardiola message as he discusses Man City’s rivalry with
Erling Haaland wants to continue working with Pep Guardiola after the current Manchester City contract with him expires in a year.
As he begins his Manchester City career, Erling Haaland hopes to work with Pep Guardiola for more than one season.
The 21-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Citizens in one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer as he prepares to test his incredible scoring record in the Premier League.
The city chairman has referred to Haaland as arguably the best No. 9 in the world.
Haaland chose to join the team where his father served as a captain in part because of the opportunity to work with Guardiola and learn from the manager, declining attention from Real Madrid and Barcelona to continue his career in Manchester.
Haaland wants to work with Guardiola for longer than the year that is remaining on the manager’s current contract as he begins the latest chapter of an already great career.
“Yeah, of course [I hope he stays]. You see how people develop under him, that’s a huge thing and also how City play, the positive football, how much they give to English football in terms of the football they play,” he told the Manchester Evening News.
“This is the football I wanted to be a part of. I had a good feeling about it and that’s why I wanted to come here.
“I think he can add a lot of things. I’m at the start of my career at Man City but there are different things he can teach me.”
