The Frenchman transferred from Sevilla to the Catalan giants earlier this summer in a €55 million deal.

The Frenchman has not yet officially registered with the Blaugrana because of their dire financial situation.

According to El Nacional, the defender has a clause in his contract with Barcelona that would allow him to leave the club for nothing if they fail to sign him before the start of the transfer market on September 1.

This summer, Barcelona spent almost €150 million on Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, and Jules Kounde.

The team also renewed the contracts of Sergi Roberto and Ousmane Dembele.

The Catalan giants were forced to employ “economic levers,” such as the sale of properties, to raise the money necessary to sign their new players because of their poor financial situation.

The Blaugrana’s fourth economic lever was the sale of 25% of Barca Studios to Orpheus.com at €100 million.

To formally register new hires before their La Liga debut on August 13 against Rayo Vallecano, this was done.

Xavi Hernandez’s team was able to register all of their new players with the exception of Jules Kounde.

The Frenchman was unable to play in the team’s opening La Liga games against Rayo Vallecano and Real Sociedad.

Barcelona is rushing to sell players in order to raise the money required to sign the former Sevilla great.

Despite Kounde’s apparent desire to sign with Xavi’s squad, if the organization decides against signing him, he may leave on a free transfer.

Liverpool is rumored to be monitoring his current situation.
