Revealed: Jurgen Klopp’s conversation with Tottenham’s Son Heung-min as Liverpool intensifies move for the forward
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly spoke to Son Heung-min after their 1-1 draw last season.
According to sources, Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Son Heung-min’s situation at Tottenham in readiness for a possible surprise transfer.
And if he does decide to move to Anfield, Jurgen Klopp could be able to make it happen because of their brief talk after their meeting last season.
The teams played out a 1-1 draw at Anfield in May where Son opened the scoring with a fine counter-attacking move, before Luis Diaz equalised late on the second half to share the spoils.
At the final whistle, Klopp could be seen embracing Son and as he grabbed the South Korean for a quick chat, fans believe the Reds boss used the opportunity to lay down the foundations for a possible move.
Supporters believe Klopp said something after being seen by the cameras on the field.
“Here is special!” referring to the unique atmosphere inside their iconic stadium, Anfield.
After witnessing Son brilliantly score his best goalscoring season to date in 2021–22, matching Mohamed Salah with 23 goals last season, some people think it was the German’s way of starting the charm offensive to entice Son to Merseyside.
Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the South Korean forward and has reportedly admitted that in the past.
Since his £23 million move from Bayer Leverkusen to the club in 2015, while Mauricio Pochettino was the manager, Son has become a big star.
Since then, he has scored 136 goals in 344 appearances for the team and established a partnership with Harry Kane that broke all previous records with more than 50 goal combinations.
But according to German outlet Sport 1, Son is already planning the next stage of his career, having celebrated his 30th birthday back in July.
The South Korean is understood to be willing to leave after seven years with the club to win trophies elsewhere, although it may be difficult to prise him away.
