Jack Butland set to complete Manchester United transfer
Man United are on the verge of completing their first signing of the January transfer window in goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Jack Butland is scheduled to have a medical today and complete his loan move to Manchester United.

United have moved swiftly to sign goalkeeper Butland on loan for the rest of the season from Crystal Palace after Martin Dubravka was recalled by Newcastle on Sunday.

Butland, 29, has held positive talks with United but is unlikely to be registered in time to be involved in the FA Cup third round tie against Everton on Friday night.

Butland could be in the squad for the League Cup quarter-final visit of Charlton on Tuesday.

The man utd boss Erik ten Hag watched Butland when he started in Palace’s pre-season defeat to United in Melbourne in July but he was forced off injured.

Butland is represented by the Triple S agency whose clientele includes Daniel Bachmann, one of the goalkeepers United considered recruiting in the summer.

Butland is out of contract at Palace in the summer and could be signed permanently by United on a free transfer.

Tom Heaton, 36, has been reinstalled for now as United’s No.2 and could make a long-awaited full debut against Everton or Charlton.

United have settled on having three experienced ‘keepers since Lee Grant joined the club in 2018 and the highest level Bishop has played at is League One.

Butland won nine England caps between 2012 and 2018, when he was named in their World Cup squad by manager Gareth Southgate.
