Journalists confirm Liverpool are ready to sign €50 million star midfielder in the January transfer window
Liverpool fans were surprised to see the rekindled interest in Wolves Matheus Nunes, with the Portuguese star only arriving in the Premier League last summer but now being seemingly ready to move again soon.
The Telegraph’s John Percy and Sam Wallace broke the story first, writing: “After months of Liverpool being associated with Brazil-born Nunes, Wolves spent over £38 million on him last summer.
According to what is known, Liverpool promised to make a future bid for him, and the transaction is still very much in play this month. If it is approved, Nunes will probably transfer to Liverpool at the end of current campaign.
Despite his sluggish start in English football, the move will probably cost around €50 million (£44 million).
“That’s a live story, them two putting their names to that – you can trust that story”.
It therefore seems that we could be ready to push for a move in the summer and we could have the man that was clearly on our transfer target list just a few months ago.
Even for Jurgen Klopp, letting the 24-year-old move to another club first would be uncharted territory. We know that he frequently waits to bring his ideal candidate through the Anfield entrance door.
Wolves will be content to make a tiny profit and search for a new option given their current league struggles and apparent acceptance of players leaving their club for bigger and greater things.
It raises the issue of why the Reds are suddenly able to spend £44 million a year after the Midlands club spent £38 million to acquire the midfielder from Sporting Lisbon.
