Liverpool looking to benefit from Chelsea’s need to offload some players in the summer.

N’Golo Kante who is out of contract in the summer and has not yet committed to a contract extension at Stamford Bridge, has been told by Liverpool to make a move.

Enzo Fernandez, a long-term successor for Kante who was signed by the Blues, is apparently being watched by Real Madrid, PSG, and the former Leicester City player as he approaches a Chelsea exit.

Kante’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign

N’Golo Kante, the World Cup winner, hasn’t played since suffering a hamstring injury against Tottenham, missing not only the World Cup but also significant league and Champions League games thus far this season.

But Liverpool legend Steve Nicol says the Reds should take the chance on the French midfielder as they lack legs and experience in the middle of the park.

He told ESPN: “If I am a coach of the best team on the planet, and he’s [Kante] available, then I want to sign him. There are certain things that you take a chance on in football, and this is one of them.

“You know exactly what you are getting when he is fit. You know you are getting a player, a gentleman and an experienced winner. He’s the whole package. The nicest guy in the world. Fantastic in the dressing room. You are getting everything.”

This winter transfer window, Chelsea have spent almost £300 million on players and will have to sell some homegrown players and cut contracts of some high earners to balance the books as Financial Fair Play regulation gathers around them.

Kante has been sensational for Chelsea but there is a feeling that his best days might be behind him and he could walk away from Stamford Bridge this summer with both parties shaking hands.
