Liverpool agree deal with young defender who has already been sent Jurgen Klopp message
Jarell Quansah played on loan at Bristol Rovers for the second half of this season.
Jarell Quansah, a defender for Liverpool, has extended his contract with the team, finishing off a memorable week for the 20-year-old.
The U20 World Cup will take place in Argentina later this month, and Quansah will be the sole member of the Reds to compete there.
This comes after he helped the Three Lions win the U19 European Championship last year, where he scored an important goal in the semifinals to advance to the championship game.
The talented centre-back represented Liverpool under-21s for much of this season before being loaned to League One Bristol Rovers during the January transfer window, where he quickly manager a first-choice option under manager Joey Barton.
“The sky’s the limit for him, he can be whatever he wants,” said Barton earlier this year of the youngster’s ability. “Jurgen Klopp doesn’t feel the way he feels about you, training with the first team, unless you’re a good player.”
Quansah, who has been at the Academy since the age of five, captained the Liverpool under-18s side that reached the FA Youth Cup final two years ago before making the step up to Premier League 2 last season.
He has since and being named on the bench for three first-team games, though remains in search of a maiden senior appearance
