Antonio Rudiger makes promise to fans after completing deal with Real Madrid as he leaves Chelsea
Former Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger has finally completed a free transfer to European champions Real Madrid after 5 years at Stamford Bridge
Antonio Rudiger’s free move to Real Madrid has been finalized, according to Chelsea.
When his current contract expires on June 30, the Germany international was expected to join Real. Rudiger’s exit was confirmed on Thursday afternoon after Chelsea was unable to reach an agreement on a new deal with him. The agreement has also been confirmed by Real Madrid.
“I’m proud to announce that I’ll be joining Real Madrid,” said Rudiger as the news broke. “I’m super excited for all the challenges ahead and can’t wait to play my first games for this huge club.”
The Blues added in a statement: “We bid farewell to Antonio as he departs Stamford Bridge… Chelsea Football Club thanks Toni for his contribution to our success over the last five years and wishes him well in his future career.”
Rudiger will be revealed to the press later this month, according to Real. “Real Madrid CF has struck an agreement with Antonio Rudiger, who will be bound to the club for the next four seasons,” the Spanish giants said in a statement.
“Next Monday, June 20, at noon at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Antonio Rudiger as a new Real Madrid player will take place.”
Rudiger joined Chelsea from Roma in the summer of 2017 and had five successful seasons at the club, appearing in 203 games. During his time in England, he won five trophies: the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup. In addition, he lost three FA Cup finals and two EFL Cup finals.
