“I know what I want” Darwin Nunez reveals his final destination as clubs lure him with better offers than Liverpool
Liverpool transfer: Benfica star Darwin Nunez has revealed his final destination as clubs try to tempt him with better offers than what Liverpool is offering
According to reports, Darwin Nunez will turn down larger offers to join Liverpool. The Uruguayan forward has made up his mind on his next club.
Nunez will reject offers of bigger wages in order to sign for Liverpool. The transfer isn’t about money, it seems, and the Uruguayan sees a brighter future at Anfield according to the Record.
This is coming following reports about Manchester United attempt to sign the player late on. They’re willing to match Liverpool’s offer to Benfica but can’t covinve the player. Even money won’t do that, apparently.
Therefore Liverpool firmly leads the race here as they close in on a club-record transfer. It will reportedly take £85m in total to get Benfica to commit to a sale, surpassing what the Reds paid for Virgil van Dijk in 2018.
It’s what you want to hear from any player joining the club, really. Nunez wants to play for Liverpool specifically and likes what the club can do for him.
United was counting on a cash offer to persuade him to join, but that won’t be enough. Of course, it’s a massive transfer fee, but one that Liverpool can afford.
