DONE DEAL: ‘Medical later today’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool loan deal for ‘Technically gifted’ Juventus midfield superstar as The reds ‘next Thiago’
Liverpool have reportedly agreed a loan deal for Juventus midfield superstar Arthur Melo, according to World renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano Romano.
An update on the versatile central midfielder was shared on Twitter by the dependable Italian journalist, who noted that a medical was “planned for the afternoon.”
It’s a surprise move for the Merseysiders, who were set to close the summer transfer season without a midfield addition amid lingering worries about availability in the position.
The 26-year-old previously moved from Barcelona to the Serie A powerhouses in a £72.5 million transfer (according to Sky Sports).
The Brazilian should make an interesting addition to Jurgen Klopp’s team as we look to fill the void left by Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita, who are both still out injured.
The Brazilian is a reliable passer of the ball who thrives in confined spaces.
It’s interesting to note that an option-to-buy has not yet been added to the deal in question, but one might suspect that should the player perform well on Merseyside, we may be inclined to inquire about his availability.
After all, he only turned 26 this summer.
