Despite interest from teams like Liverpool and Manchester City, Arsenal is allegedly hoping to sign Bukayo Saka to a new contract worth twice the existing £70,000-per-week deal.

Jürgen Klopp is believed to be a “strong admirer” of Saka, who has a contract that runs until 2024, and TeamTalk claims that Saka would be a “dream” signing for the Liverpool boss.

Saka is likely to seek Champions League action sooner rather than later, and if Arsenal is unable to provide it on a consistent basis, Saka may be forced to decide to leave the club.

However, Mikel Arteta’s team will probably be able to use his assistance this season at least as they attempt to break into the top four slots after nearly missing out the previous time around.

However, former Premier League defender Glen Johnson has backed a proposal that would see Saka sign a contract at Anfield despite his success in north London. Johnson stated to The Games Cabin:

“I’d like to see Bukayo Saka go to Liverpool. He’d suit Liverpool perfectly.

“But he’s playing well for Arsenal, and he clearly enjoys being there. He’s obviously a good lad, and you can see that from the way he interacts with other players.

“He’s still super young so maybe a few more years at Arsenal would work too. As long as he continues to stamp his authority there, then the big teams are still going to want to sign him.”

While some sources have questioned Saka’s future at his old team, the MailOnline reported in May that the winger is content at Arsenal.

After failing to make the Champions League, the MailOnline did speculate that the England international “may be reluctant to commit himself without an escape strategy.”
