Liverpool star midfield target Nabil Fekir could have replaced Philippe Coutinho, was “all but done” signing the dotted line for the Reds during the summer transfer window of 2018. Many Fans looked forward to seeing him at Anfield .
After a season in which he scored 23 goals and added eight assists in 40 games for the French team, Olympique Lyonnais, a large portion of Liverpool supporters were highly thrilled about the arrival of the French international.
When Paul Joyce announced that the club will sign the French international on Friday, the Liverpool fan base was in ecstasy. This sparked the worldwide trend #FekirFriday around the star’s signing in a deal costing an initial £48.4 million.

Nabil Fekir expressed his disappointment at not joining Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team in a new interview with Movistar as reported by The Mirror and the LFC Transfer Room Twitter account.
“Everything was closed. I passed all the interviews, I spoke with Jurgen Klopp, he told me that he loved me It was all done, when we were about to sign, there were problems with my representative and the negotiation broke down.”
“Of course I was disappointed not to go to Liverpool, very disappointed because Liverpool is a great club.
“I met Jurgen Klopp, and it went well. After meeting him, I wanted to join Liverpool even more. He’s a good person. It was really difficult to deal with for me”
Since then, Fekir has moved on to greener pastures. Real Betis paid £17.78 million to sign Fekir in July 2019.
Fekir has scored 22 goals and recorded 23 assists throughout the course of 118 games with the Spanish team.
