“It is a young man’s game now” – Liverpool urged to sign replacements for two Red superstars next summer.

Ex Scotland striker Frank McAvennie has urged Liverpool to replace two players next summer.

James Milner and Jordan Henderson, a midfield combo, are no longer elite enough, in McAvennie’s opinion, to regularly suit up for a team like Liverpool.

Milner, who signed a one-year extension this summer, is currently 36 years old and in the penultimate year of his contract at Anfield.

Jordan Henderson, the captain of Liverpool, has a deal at Anfield that runs through the summer of 2025, but he hasn’t been at his best this season.

Henderson has made 13 appearances for the Reds this season, compared to Milner’s 15 across all competitions.

“We can talk about Jude Bellingham and how good he is – he’s a fantastic player – but you tell me now which kind of midfielder we lack?” – Jurgen Klopp

Frank McAvennie wants both players to be replaced next summer. He told Football Insider:

“No. He is an old man now. It is a young man’s game now. It is so quick. What a wonderful talent he was.

“But him and Henderson have to be replaced at the end of the season. They have been great servants.”

“If they could keep them on at the club in some capacity, it would be great to see that.

“I cannot see Milner wanting to go down the leagues and play. I would not think he would want to do that at the end of his career.”
