“it was going to be difficult” – Jordan Henderson breaks silence on “world-class” Sadio Mane leaving Liverpool
Jordan Henderson, the captain of Liverpool, has acknowledged that the Reds were upset to see Sadio Mane leave the organization this summer.
Sadio Mane signed a three-year contract with Bayern Munich on July 1 for a price of €32 million.
Mane spent an impressive six seasons at Anfield.

Mane swiftly rose to the top of Jurgen Klopp’s team sheet after moving to the club from Southampton for €42.20 million in 2016.
During his time on Merseyside, he distinguished himself as one of the best by his technical proficiency, selflessness, and unequaled quality.
The Senegal international played 269 times for the Reds in various tournaments, scoring 120 goals and dishing out 48 assists.
Among other accolades, he assisted the team in winning a Champions League trophy and a Premier League championship.
Although Henderson agreed that Mane would be missed, he claimed that Liverpool still had a lot of quality up front.
The English international said in a statement to Athletic:
“It was always going to be difficult losing Sadio because he’s world-class one of the best forwards in the world. We were sad to see him leave but we wish him all the best.
“For us, you look at the forward line and it’s still very strong. We have brought new players in but we also have world-class players who performed last season.”
Henderson provided some insight into Liverpool’s offensive line, stating that the battle for positions will be a wonderful motivation. Added Henderson
“Luis Diaz performed phenomenally well, look at Mo (Salah) and the numbers he’s got, and obviously Bobby (Firmino) is a big plus coming back from injury last season.
“Darwin is hopefully a huge player for us going forward, and we have some young players coming through as well. Competition for places drives people on.”
