Jesse Lingard takes final Man United transfer decision after public Ralf Rangnick warning
Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard’s contract is set to terminate at the end of the season, according to the latest reports, negotiations over a new deal are at a stalemate.
Jesse Lingard intends on seeing out the remainder of the season with Manchester United, encouraged by the appointment of interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
Lingard spent the second half of last season on loan with West Ham, where he enjoyed a rejuvenated spell under West Ham manager David Moyes.
However, reports from MEN suggest that Lingard is likely to remain at the club and take his time before making his next move.
The 28-year-old is part of a number of united stars with an uncertain future, with Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, and Edinson Cavani also out of contract.
The Manchester United boss recently claimed that in light of the Pogba situation, he would not try to convince players that they should stay at Manchester United.
“If a player does not want to play for Manchester United in the medium or long term, I don’t think it makes sense to convince him to change his mind,” the German coach explained.
“Players have to want to play for a big club like Manchester United.”
The MEN adds that Lingard has been encouraged by the change of manager, but accepts that his time is likely up at his boyhood club.
“That is why I am happy to give game time to quite a few of those players to see them under pressure in a Champions League game in front of 75,000 fans.
“This is a perfect opportunity to get to know the players like I did last Sunday against Palace. We have only had a week of training so far.
“With every training session, every opportunity to see them in competitive games, I will get to know them better.”
