Klopp tells Liverpool to Lodge N’Golo Kante request as wonderkid set for deadline day exit
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has suggested that the Reds will not be busy on the incomings front on deadline day but has requested what would be a shock move for Chelsea star N’Golo Kante
It was initially thought that Liverpool had completed all of their business before the deadline.
Early in the window, the Reds promptly completed a deal to acquire PSV’s top forward Cody Gakpo. Jurgen Klopp said that his team did not anticipate closing any moves on the final day of the January transfer window.
Speaking after his side’s FA Cup defeat to Brighton, he said: “No, nothing will happen in this transfer window.”
Despite this, there are still lots of rumors about arrivals and exits at Anfield with less than 24 hours left in the window.
Regardless of Klopp having confirmed that his side will not be making any surprise signings on deadline day, that has not stopped the German from lodging an outlandish request with the Anfield hierarchy.
According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Klopp has requested that the club make a move for Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.
The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the campaign and it appears unlikely that he will put pen to paper on a new deal with the Blues. The Reds desperately need more support in midfield with Kante having been sounded out by Klopp as an ideal option.
It is suggested that he won’t come cheap though with the Frenchman currently being one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.
Sander Berge of Sheffield United is one option who has been linked to a transfer to Anfield in recent seasons. Links have slowed down a bit during the past year, but it seems like his agent is still optimistic.
it appears that Liverpool youngster Luke Chambers is in line for a move away from Merseyside. According to The Athletic, the 18-year-old is set for a loan move to Scottish side Kilmarnock.
It would represent the academy graduate’s first spell in senior football having made his way up through the youth ranks with Liverpool. He has twice made it on the bench for the side this season – once in the Carabao Cup and once in the Premier League.
