Kylian Mbappe gives an update on his immediate PSG future after Real Madrid win amid Liverpool rumours
PSG star forward Kylian Mbappe has discussed an important update surrounding his future, amid links with Liverpool.
The 23-year-ol has spoken talked about speculations surrounding his PSG future after an impressive win over the Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 Clash.
Mbappe’s next move has been a hot topic in recent months with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, leading to links with Liverpool.
Mbappe was reportedly the subject of interest with serious bids from Real Madrid last summer but failed to agree a deal, with PSG ultimately unwilling to cash in one of their star players.
And after being drawn against the Spanish side in the Champions League, Mbappe scored the only goal of the game in the 94th minute to hand PSG the advantage, heading into the second leg.
The world cup winner was asked how he had dealt with the narrative surrounding the game.
“How to ignore the context? It’s easy, you have to play football! We ask too many questions, too many things”, he told Canal Plus, as quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“We talk about PSG and Real, two big clubs but I’m a PSG player – I’m always very happy.”
The French side reportedly decided to hold on to Mbappe for this season in the hope that the arrival of Lionel Messi, alongside several other high-profile additions, would lead to Champions League success.
Kylian Mbappe has now entered the final months of his contract, the forward is now able to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of France, with Liverpool consistently touted to hold an interest in the World Cup winner.
Speaking in December, Mbappe spoke about his admiration for Mohamed Salah and his enjoyment of how the Reds forward plays the game.
“To talk about Mohamed Salah, he’s one of the best players in the world,” he said.
“He was the sixth finalist on the list at the Globe Soccer Awards [Men’s Player of the Year] and has scored a lot of goals for Liverpool. He makes the difference and I love to watch him play. He is a great player.”
