Liverpool FC contact Ajax for youngster Brazilian winger
Liverpool FC are interested in signing Ajax winger Antony, according to a report
According to a source in England, Liverpool FC have contacted Ajax about the possibility of signing Antony during the summer transfer window.
According to Football Insider, the Reds are considering making a move for the Brazilian forward to improve Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options.
The Eredivisie giants have reportedly been contacted by Liverpool FC about a transfer for Antony, according to the same publication, as the Merseyside club looks to add a fourth player this summer.
According to Football Insider, given that the Merseyside club having paid a club record cost for Uruguay international Darwin Nunez this summer, the Reds are unlikely to match Ajax’s asking price for Antony.
The report adds that Manchester United are also considering signing the South American forward after Antony played for Amsterdam for two years under Erik ten Hag.
Last season, Antony featured in 23 games in the Dutch top division and contributed four assists and eight goals.
After scoring six goals in 52 games across all competitions for Sao Paulo in his native Brazil, the 22-year-old moved to Ajax in an £18.2 million transfer in 2020.
Darwin Nunez, Calvin Ramsey, and Fabio Carvalho are the three players Liverpool FC have acquired so far this summer. Liverpool FC finished second last season, just one point behind champions Manchester City.
