Liverpool FC set to re-open Sadio Mane contract talks amid Barcelona & Bayern Munich transfer links
Sadio Mane’s current contract expires in 2023, but despite media conjecture, the Reds are unconcerned about the situation.
The reds intend to re-open negotiations with Sadio Mane about his future at the end of the season, amid suggestions that Bayern Munich and Barcelona are interested in signing the Senegal international.
Mane’s contract with the Reds is set to expire this summer, and he has yet to reach an agreement on a new deal.
Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga winners, have been linked with the 30-year-old, while a report in Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo on Tuesday stated that Mane was now a genuine possibility for Barcelona, and that the former Southampton star would be interested.
Although Liverpool sources claim to be unconcerned about the situation, conversations between the club and Mane’s representative, Bjorn Bezemer, are set to take place towards the end of the season.
Jurgen Klopp would prefer Mane to continue at Anfield, but the scenario is complicated by the fact that Mohamed Salah and, to a lesser extent, Roberto Firmino’s contracts are also coming to an end.
All three have been considered as “unlikely” to renew, with Liverpool knowing that in order to keep Salah, they will have to break their existing wage structure.
