Liverpool handed major title boost after ‘surprise’ Man City development
Liverpool have had a “slow” start to the season but can take comfort from Man City’s struggles.
John Wenham, a Spurs insider who frequently shares info about the team on his Lilywhite Rose social media accounts, claims that.
Napoli defeated Liverpool 4-1 in their Champions League debut on Wednesday (7 September).
The Reds have also only won two of their six Premier League games this season; their most recent victory came against Newcastle on a 97th-minute goal (31 August).
Wenham feels Liverpool can anticipate Tottenham causing Man City issues when those teams clash, allowing the gap between the title rivals to be reduced.
“If Liverpool hadn’t scored that 97th winner against Newcastle then it would be a really worrying start to the season for them,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“In fact, it is a really worrying start to the season. They are already playing severe catch-up to Man City.
“Obviously, they will be pleased Man City didn’t take all of the points against Newcastle or Aston Villa, which was a surprise blow for them.
“The other positive for them is that Tottenham still need to play Man City and we have a really good record against them.
“We are their bogey team.”
Tottenham defeated Man City on the first day of the season and then defeated them 3-2 at The Etihad in February to defeat them last year and earn all three points.
The match between the two teams scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed, and it now probably won’t be played until after the World Cup.
