Liverpool makes 26-year-old midfielder top transfer target ready to table £50m to seal deal
Fabrizio Romano stated that Nicolo Barella is a player that Liverpool genuinely value while they are currently searching for a new midfielder.
Last time, didn’t the Reds have a terribly bad season? Everyone anticipated they’d fight for the Premier League crown again after winning the Community Shield, but they failed to even finish in the top four.
At this point, Jurgen Klopp is eager to bolster his squad, and Romano revealed on GiveMeSport that Barella is a player Liverpool like.
Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool ‘appreciate’ Nicolo Barella
Liverpool has been in need of midfield reinforcements for about two years.
The Reds paid a price for failing to address the problem last summer. Klopp is aware that he must avoid repeating his error, and they have already conducted some successful business.
Alexis Mac Allister, an excellent player from Argentina, was recently acquired by Liverpool from Brighton. He has the talent to be a fantastic midfielder for the Reds, but they still need to add at least one more player to that position.
Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella is one of the players who has been linked with a move to Anfield, and Fabrizio Romano has said that Liverpool truly do value him.
The Reds have not yet determined whether the Italian is the type of player they are currently looking for.
Romano said: “The reported fee of £50 million for Barella is not going to be enough for any club to sign him. Inter want way more than this and it is not going to be an easy negotiation in any case.
“For Liverpool, he is appreciated yes, but they are not sure yet that this is the kind of player they need.
“Let’s see in the next days or weeks.”
Liverpool could use two more central midfielders, but they only need one more.
Barella would be fantastic in that position. The 26-year-old enjoyed a fantastic season with Inter, helping them in their run to the Champions League final.
He is currently one of Italy’s top midfielders, and he is at the point in his career when he is prepared to take the next step in his growth.
Waiting to see if Liverpool makes a move to sign him this summer will be interesting.
