Liverpool plan to seal deal for £20.2m top rated Bayern Munich star
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp is intensifying his plans to raid Bayern Munich this summer in search of a talented midfielder. However, the potential deal may have serious repercussions for one of Erik ten Hag’s intended Manchester United signings.
This summer, Reds manager Klopp is in dire need of a midfielder upgrade. The Merseysiders have had trouble in that area this summer, and a disappointing campaign will result in them finishing the season without any trophy.
Also, Klopp is searching for at least two new hires to upgrade the engine room since both Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are leaving this summer.
Truth be told, neither player will be missed that much. And while Oxlade-Chamberlain has been beset by injuries during his time at Anfield, there are still a plethora of suitors waiting to pounce on a free transfer.
Speculation on whom Liverpool could sign in their place is already starting to heat up. And while Jude Bellingham is their No 1 target, any deal for the Reds looks extremely difficult to pull off.
Indeed, with Borussia Dortmund likely to command a fee well in excess of £100m, Liverpool are wisely keeping an eye on numerous alternatives.
Graveberch moved from Ajax to the Allianz Arena for £15.5 million (€18 million), with add-ons bringing the total cost to £20.2 million (€23 million).
Although Gravenberch showed promise in the Eredivisie, he has struggled to make a name for himself in Germany.
The Dutch midfielder has only made 24 appearances this season, with only 15 of those coming in the Bundesliga due to fierce competition for spots.
To that aim, the 20-year-old was frequently benched by the former coach, Julian Nagelsmann, who seemed to dislike him. Gravenberch consequently appeared in fewer than 700 minutes over those appearances.
It comes as no surprise that Gravenberch reportedly welcomes the new Bayern manager, Thomas Tuchel, who was named as such last week.
However, Sport1 reckons a summer exit still looks to be on the cards. And they suggest Bayern Munich are willing to discuss a move for Gravenberch if Liverpool come forward with a proposal.
Suggesting a move to Anfield is a ‘conceivable option’ for him, Bayern reportedly are seeking a fee of around £25m to discuss his sale.
