Liverpool set to table £33.4m for Leeds United star wanted by Real Madrid
Liverpool are readying £33.4m bid for Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips, although the Whites may get their preference if Real Madrid’s “obsession” is acted upon, according to report.
Phillips remains a key player under Marcelo Bielsa’s system at Elland Road. The 26-year-old is sets the tone in the engine room and allows those around him to thrive and get the praise.
This is exactly the type of midfielder Jurgen Klopp has often targeted for the Reds.
As per Spanish outlet Nacional, the Reds are prepared to test the waters with a £33.4m bid for the England International.
Klopp is labeled a “huge fan” of Phillips and is duly “preparing an offense” with Phillips set to transform his midfield.
The report states that “all indications are” that Leeds will reject an offer if it comes at all.
However, they claim that Phillips is “seduced” by the idea of playing at Anfield. But unsurprisingly, Leeds would reportedly rather sell to a foreign team if forced to sell, and that’s where Real Madrid comes in.
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is considered a huge admirer of Phillips from his time at Everton. In their words, signing Phillips is one of Ancelotti’s ‘obsessions’.
Philips is seen as an ideal replacement for Casemiro in Real Madrid midfield, but it remains to be seen if the Spanish giants will make a move this winter.
