Liverpool star offered new contract but player must accept reduced terms
Liverpool forward has been offered a new contract with a lower salary package than his present one.
At the completion of the current campaign, Firmino’s contract is expected to expire. Even if it’s just to maintain his value and prevent him from leaving on a free transfer, Liverpool will be eager to lock him down to a new contract.
Darwin Nunez is taking some time to get used to the Premier League, so Firmino is still playing a significant role for Liverpool.
Now, Liverpool has reportedly offered Firmino a new contract with a lower salary package, according to Football Insider.
According to the article, Firmino is now making £180,000 per week but will have to settle for less favorable terms to land a new contract.
If Liverpool is unable to sign Firmino to a new contract in the coming weeks, his head may be turned in January.
Firmino will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club in Europe in January, so he might be persuaded by a sizable offer since interested clubs wouldn’t have to fork over money to acquire him before the summer.
