Liverpool set to finally seal deal for Porto star after agreeing to pay €80m

Premier League giant Liverpool are willing to pay €70 million-plus € 10 million in bonuses to sign Luis Díaz from Porto, according to reports from Portugal.

The Reds are among a host of European clubs chasing the 24-year-old, who has been in fine form in the domestic League for Porto this season.

Liverpool have been monitoring the progress of the Colombian especially during this season’s Champions League group stage, where Diaz had three shots and three key passes in Porto’s two defeats to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Klopp would have preferred to wait until the summer to pursue the Porto man but AFCON absentees and a Covid outbreak might force his hand.

Latest report according to A Bola via (Sport Witness) has revealed that Liverpool are ‘willing to offer €70m fixed for the player’s transfer, to which €10m must be added in bonuses attainable by the Colombian’.

If another club offers 80 million euros in full and Diaz is happy, then “he will go elsewhere” and the Reds will only offer 70 million euros of the fee upfront.

The report adds that “the deal is underway” with Liverpool after their “need became even more acute” when Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah departed for the African Cup of Nations.

Diaz has netted 14 goals and three assists for Porto this season in all competitions.
