Liverpool transfer: Jurgen Klopp willing to let Liverpool star join Premier League club in January as part of overhaul
The January transfer window is approaching, and Liverpool player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to be offered to Southampton, where he previously played.
The midfielder has spent the previous five and a half years at Anfield, but his contract, which expires at the end of the current campaign, won’t be renewed since the Englishman has slipped down Jurgen Klopp’s priority list.
The 29-year-old briefly appeared to be on the verge of becoming a superstar in a red shirt until suffering a knee injury against Roma in the Champions League semifinal back in 2018.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was never able to recapture that level of play, and as a result, he will soon quit the team.
According to Football Insider, Oxlade-Chamberlain will be made available to Southampton in January as Liverpool looks to raise some cash for the midfielder.
Before the start of the upcoming season, the Reds’ midfield will undergo a complete makeover because it has been a weak spot throughout the current campaign.
Between now and then, a number of players will depart, but for the time being, it’s possible that the 29-year-old is going back to the team where it all began for him.
