‘Only fair’ – Watch Real Madrid superstar makes massive Champions League claim after ‘indescribable’ Liverpool moment
This summer, Real Madrid defeated Liverpool to get to their 14th Champions League final.
According to Real Madrid player Vinicius Jr., it was “only fair” that they be named champions after their tremendous season following the Champions League final in Paris.
Just a few weeks prior to the championship game, the Spanish team won the La Liga title, and the 22-year-old winger went on to score the game-winning goal in Paris.
Liverpool had opportunities, but Thibaut Courtois the goalie stopped them all.
Vinicius had a strong season for Real Madrid last year, contributing to 20 assists and scoring 22 goals across all competitions.
Although, he admitted delivering on the biggest stage of all was an ‘indescribable’ feeling.
“After a wonderful season, it was only fair to crown us with a victory in the final,” he told realmadrid.com.
“I’ve been playing football for more than 15 years and you never know when you’re going to play a final, so I wanted to enjoy it to the fullest. (Scoring against Liverpool) was an unrepeatable feeling.
“Only those who have scored in this type of game in the Champions League can understand this feeling.
“It’s indescribable. You don’t know how to express it, how to explain it, there’s no way.
“Only those who have lived football and gone through the emotions that we have experienced this season know how important it is and how happy it makes you.”
Liverpool will be more eager than ever to win even more hardware as Real Madrid gets ready for the new campaign and looks to repeat their glory from 2021–2022.
The Reds face Manchester City this weekend in the FA Community Shield before the Premier League season begins the following week.
