Premier League club Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in Torino defender Perr Schuurs as a replacement for Marc Guehi, with Liverpool recently linked to both players.

According to the Daily Mail, the Eagles are eyeing the Dutch centre-back as insurance for if their star defender leaves this summer, with Liverpool one of many clubs interested in signing Guehi after another impressive season for the south London side.

Guehi’s form for Palace has seen the former Chelsea talent become an established England international, and there’s now a growing expectation that the defender could be on the move this window, with Liverpool in the race.

As a result, Palace are seeking for players to take Guehi’s place. Schuurs, a 23-year-old who has also been widely connected with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, has suddenly emerged as a possibility. This might put the Reds in a tight situation.

According to Tuttosport, Schuurs and Guehi are both available for Liverpool at similar cost, with an asking price of £43 million. And with Palace now assuming that their star defender would go this summer, the choice of which center-back to move for might be determined very soon.

A transfer merry-go-round could be about the kick-off with Palace now interested in Schuurs, and as a result, Liverpool should now be focusing on Guehi, who could be a more ideal option for Jurgen Klopp’s side this summer based on his homegrown status and Premier League CV.

With the Palace star also available at a similar asking price to Schuurs, signing Guehi makes more sense than a move for the Dutchman, who could also be more suited to Selhurst Park rather than the bright lights of Anfield having spent just a season at Torino.
