Watch as Rival fans fumes as Liverpool superstar Salah wins ‘undeserved’ Player of the Year award

Liverpool winger, Mohamed Salah won the PFA Players’ ‘Player of the Year’ title for the 2021-22 season, and rival fans are furious.

They claimed the Egyptian’s victory was “undeserved” and a “sympathy award.”

Salah and Son Heung-Min shared the Premier League Golden Boot with 23 goals each.

With 13 assists, he was named Premier League’s ‘Playmaker of the Season.’ His efforts, however, were unable to help Liverpool win the Premier League, as they fell one point shy of winners Manchester City.

The Reds won the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, but were defeated by Real Madrid in the Champions League final. Following the announcement of the PFA award, opposing fans used it to suggest that Salah did not deserve it.

They took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction, and here are some of the responses:

@brfootball Of course, they have to console him

@brfootball first half of a season PFA POTY.

Salah had a strong start to the season but faded after January. He didn’t wow anyone with his performances, let alone his goal-scoring ability.

Despite this, he finished with the most goals and assists.

Fans, on the other hand, think that statistics alone aren’t enough to win the prize. In the 2020-21 season, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane earned the Golden Boot and the ‘Playmaker of the Season’ title.

Kevin De Bruyne won the PFA ‘Player of the Season’ title despite scoring 23 goals and providing 14 assists.

Many fans believe  De Bruyne should have won the trophy again this season, assisting Manchester City to their fourth title in five years. In 30 league games, he scored 15 goals and added eight assists.
