James Maddison of Leicester City and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been seen working out together in preseason, according to a photo the Liverpool player shared on Instagram.

Football players used to exercise very little, if at all, during the off-season before reporting to pre-season to regain their fitness.

But now, with players in excellent condition on the first day of preseason, it’s quite different, and Oxlade-Chamberlain and Maddison will likely be no exception.

However, James Milner, who is 36 years old, will likely outperform everyone in the preseason testing, won’t be more fit than they are.

Nevertheless, Oxlade-Chamberlain sent this statement on his Instagram page before to the start of the new campaign.

The 28-year-current old’s contract expires in one year, and this summer the Reds will either sign him to a new one or acquire him for a transfer fee.

There is a chance that he could follow in the footsteps of players like Adam Lallana and most recently Divock Origi who departed for nothing.

But if they’re going to let him go, wouldn’t the Reds be better off getting paid for him?

Some unexpected teams, like Manchester United, have expressed interest in bringing the £35 million man (BBC Sport) into their ranks.

If West Ham United and Aston Villa are also mentioned, then that is a move that the Englishman can actually make.
