Watch Darwin Nunez sends Liverpool fans fresh message as he reveals how reds superstar and Jurgen klopp convinced him to seal Anfield move
According to The Times, Jurgen Klopp and Virgil van Dijk were instrumental in persuading Benfica forward Darwin Nunez to join Liverpool.
Sadio Mane’s desire to leave Anfield this summer has been clear for some time. The Reds, on the other hand, have been emphatic that they will only authorize a trade for the 30-year-old if they can find a suitable replacement.
Since then, the Merseyside club has been working on a deal to sign Benfica’s Nunez. Over the weekend, Liverpool director of football Julian Ward was in Portugal to secure an arrangement with the Primeira Liga heavyweights.
The Reds are expected to complete a deal with Benfica for an initial fee of £64 million, according to reports. Klopp’s side might also pay the Portuguese club £12.8 million in add-ons based on appearances and another £8.5 million based on the team’s success as part of the arrangement.
Darwin Nunez contract: £64 million initial fee (75 million euros), plus £12.8 million in appearance bonuses and £8.5 million in team success bonuses.
Liverpool is preparing for its medical tomorrow in the hopes that everything will be finalized today. Nunez is now in Madrid and is expected to sign a six-year contract.
According to the aforementioned source, Nunez will begin his medical with the Premier League giants on Monday. The 22-year-old is now in Spain, awaiting approval to finalize his lucrative transfer to Liverpool.
Nunez might become the Reds’ most expensive signing in franchise history if the transaction goes through. If the add-ons are activated, the overall sum will be more than the £75 million they paid Southampton for Van Dijk in 2018.
The fact that Nunez will not be among the club’s top earners is reported to have influenced the Reds’ decision to pay such a large amount for him.
In Liverpool’s aim to sign Nunez, personal conditions will not be an issue.
Nunez is also said to be of interest to Manchester United. According to the report, the Uruguay international’s desire to play under Klopp has stopped a bidding battle.
Liverpool will have no trouble reaching an agreement with the forward on personal terms. Nunez is set to sign a six-year contract with the club headquartered in Merseyside.
According to The Times, Klopp and Van Dijk were intimately involved in persuading Nunez to transfer to Anfield. The talks are alleged to have occurred during Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final match against Benfica.
The Reds defeated Benfica 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals. Nunez, on the other hand, made an impression on the Liverpool camp by scoring twice in the two games. Meanwhile, the Uruguayan is said to think of Klopp as “the best coach on the planet.”
