“Why haven’t you tried?” – Watch Robert Lewandowski makes honest Thiago admission and also reveals main reasons for joining FC Barcelona after strong Liverpool links

After departing from Bayern Munich for Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski has admitted he communicated with Thiago Alcantara of Liverpool.

Because Bayern Munich saw the Senegal international as the ideal successor for their productive striker, Sadio Mane decided to end his Anfield career this seasonĀ and Liverpool can partially blame Robert Lewandowski for that.

The Poland international joined Bayern in the summer of 2014 after making his debut in Germany over ten years ago with Jurgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund.

And even though he is about to be 34, he has shown no signs of slowing down as he keeps stealing goals for pleasure and is still one of the world’s deadliest finishers.

Robert Lewandowski, who scored 447 goals from 562 games over the course of his 12 seasons in Germany, winning every major award given to him along the way, was understandably eager for a new challenge.

As a result, he forced through a move to Barcelona last month because he had always wanted to play in La Liga.

Lewandowski was rumored to be interested in Liverpool in the past, but the striker ultimately chose Barcelona, and there was never any chance of a reunion with Klopp.

Although his own transfer merry-go-round, which included Mane, was sparked by his own wish to go, there were no ill wills back in Merseyside.

ā€œGuardiola’s philosophy and his style of caring for and managing the team I think basically was Barca at Bayern Munich,ā€ he said.

ā€œXavi is very similar to Guardiola. They were both ‘6’, they worked together. They think football in the same way.

“With that memory in mind, Barca was the only option for me and it was a great preparation when I was there.

“I didn’t talk to Guardiola before signing. But when I was with him at Bayern it was like a great preparation to get to Barca one day.

“All the staff were Spanish, there were eight Spanish players.

“During that period I had a very good relationship with Thiago and Javi Martinez. Both of them congratulated me when I signed for Barca.

“I’ve always wanted to play in La Liga, live in Spain, see what life is like here. 12 years in Germany is a long time. I achieved everything there.

“I didn’t want to stand in front of the mirror in 12 years and say to myself: ‘Why haven’t you tried?ā€™ There would be a lot of unanswered questions.ā€
